The Next Big Thing in Amsterdam
By: Matt | December 16th, 2008The rumors are already flying, and it will only get worse until either (a) the transfer window closes at the end of January or (b) some lucky striker gets purchased by Ajax or (c) Cvitanich explodes for a hat trick in his next match. One is an invitability, one an improbability, and one will keep us guessing. So, without further delay, I give you a few youtubes of possible pickups.
Mark Janko of Red Bull Salzburg is the hot commodity, linked with every club bloggers can think of, including Ajax. I dunno what to make of him. But he can play a bit.
Perhaps less glamorous is Marcus Berg (but the vid is better produced, meaning that he must be worth it, yeah?)
Ricky van Wolfswinkel is young. Too young for a proper compilation. But not too young to fly…
And never rule out the devil that you know…
And, if we choose the way of the feeder club, then get prepared for this:
Looking to the noth, maybe for a new Zlatan, we find Djiby Fall.
And, another youngster, Jack Tuyp. He has score more goals than this one (but not very many more).
Enough vids. Who do you want? Who should we get? Who is rubbish? What rumor have you heard?

A question and a comment…
1. Which one is the defender?
2. Sign that one.Posted from

Need attacking MF to get the ball up front and create in the final 3rd more than another striker imo. Did read today that we are entering talks with Eljreo Elia the winger from Twente–who is outstanding and who used to be with our youth team several yrs back befoer we stupidly and prematurely got rid of him. MVB said we’re not going to overpay Twente for him but that we will enter talks.
As for Berg, Gronigen wants 15 million euro, which isnt happening. Don’t see us getting any of the others.
Top 3 needs:
Attacking MF
CB
RB

Agreed that we need a CB first. If van Wolfswinkel can fly like that I´m sure that our set pieces would fare a lot better with him on the team……..I´d rather have Babel back though…

Isn’t Aissati supposed to be the attacking MF we need to link to the forwards? Granted, he’s been injured ever since he showed up. That’s the negative perspective. But looking at it another way… why not wait until the guy has come back and played ten or so games before coming to the verdict that an attacking MF is the highest priority? My preference would be to give Aissati a chance at that role for the rest of the season once he’s healthy, and instead focus on a defender or two in January.

Jack, I hear what your saying and maybe your right but really, I was not at all impressed by Aissati at PSV or in the preseason this yr. But after todays joke of a defending performance, you are probably more right than me.
