I agree that the new (home) shirt is a big step down–I also thought the vertical ABN AMRO logo was terrific, and the badge does look like an afterthought–but that Leidseplein video is awesome! But of course anything featuring both Ajax AND the immortal Toots and the Maytals is going to be awesome….

I first didnt like the shirt at all, but I’m getting more and more used to it!

I think its garbage. It just hurts my eyes to look at the damn thing. I guess any hope of ever gettting the old Ajax logo on a shirt are pretty much done, this would have been the perfect opportunity to do it. I don’t think I’ll be adding this one to my collection.

Hmm. The old one was pretty iconic. This, it seems normal, at best. The badge is definitely crowded in there, though having a huge Adidas logo can’t help that.

The away jersey in Jon’s isn’t bad. All the same, though, they all seem a pretty big step down from the ABN Amro version, where the sponsor logo actually seemed a fundamental part of the design and improved the design, which very, very few do.

Alas.

Aegon is another financial services company based in the Netherlands (they are an insurance conglomerate and own TransAmerica among other companies; ABN Amro is/was a bank-one of the largest in the world). I agree with everything everyone has written, especially about the club badge. They may as well have placed it on the sleeve. . .

Meh. First, the good bits: the red stripe goes all the way over the top, the stripe doesn’t taper at the bottom, and the shirt has no collar (I know some people like collars, but I think they look horrible). Now the bad bits: the horizontal Aegon is the ugly bastard step-child to the classy vertical ABN AMRO, there’s something wrong with the Ajax badge and it looks like an after-thought/eye sore (as Dave noted), and the Ajax badge should be centered above the sponsor instead of the adidas logo (basically, swap places of the Ajax badge and adidas logo). Overall, not as good as some, but I’ve also seen worse.
