The Gloves Come Off: Huntelaar is Trash

By: Matt | December 8th, 2008

I have been biding my time for more than a few days, satisfying my own self-imposed “cooling off period.” It’s not that KJH defied my own prediction that he would wait until summer to move. It’s not the money. It’s not even the destination. It is the brazen arrogance and idiocy that led Klass Jan-Huntelaar to appear for a presentation at another club when he is not only under contract to his current club, he is their f*&$ing captain.

I don’t care how many instances you can name of players doing this (although I doubt you could name that many). The deal with Real Nike, I mean, Madrid, does not start until the transfer window opens in Spain after the New Year. Until then, KJH is supposed to report to training and rehab his d*#n ankle like any captain would do. But I don’t want him there. I don’t want him to set foot on the grounds again. I want him banned. Send him to Madrid, where they know how to treat injured players (they replace them).

How did this guy end up with the armband in the first place? He obviously never deserved it. He took the captain’s band at Ajax from Marco f%$#^ing van Basten with Dennis f@#!ing Bergkamp looking on and now he poses for pictures in another team’s shirt. What kind of a moron does this? By the way, looks like rehab is coming along nicely, why don’t you chase a ball around? Only in Madrid!

I don’t care if you want to play in Madrid. Go on. Ask Ajax to move you. But don’t pull a van der Vart and negotiate in the media for yourself. Let the club use whatever leverage they can. Especially when you wear the f*&%$ing armband, for crying out loud. Now I understand why the club offered you to Real: what else can you do with a bad captain who has not been living up to expectations and might have peaked? You sell him for a tidy fee, shrug your shoulders, and get on with the business of making the squad stronger.

I am done teasing, finished dancing around the subject. Klaas, you disappoint me. You have failed to show up when your team needed you (playoffs), and now you need not show up ever again. And, while this is sacrilege for supporters of the Oranje, I hope you rot in the reserves when you fail to score on your debut and Real Nike (did it again) purchases Benzema before the window even closes. Good riddance to rubbish. If only your character matched up with your (now suspect) talent.

I think that´s a bit harsh. I dont disagree that the transfer and the media circus around it was disrespectfull towards Ajax, but in the long run I think that as a club we would like to keep a healthy relationship with our former players, given that a lot of them usually retire in the Eredivise (looking at you Seedorf). But that aside, as an Orange and Ajax supporter (I dont think it´s possible being one without the other given the history of Ajacied in Orange) I´d like to see Klaas succeed in Madrid. But that´s just me….

This is bizarre. Is Klaas returning to Amsterdam? Or has he already? I was under the impression Real paid an extra sum so he could train (or sit on the trainer’s table) with them during the month while still under Ajax contract. If not that is quite lame.

Ahhh Matt, relax. Its not so bad. Fuck it. The dude’s gone, we got 20-25 million, and like you said he’s not going to get any better. At least he wasnt with us. So take the $ and on to the next striker.

Ha ha ha…note to self, don’t get on Matt’s bad side.

I wonder if any of his former (or is it current?) teammates have commented on this ‘betrayal’? Its hard to stay mad at these guys though, especially when they are in Oranje. I hated VDV’s guts after he left, but almost bought his jersey after his performance in Euro ‘08.

I’m with Syd on this one! Actually, I kind of agree with Matt; I had my doubts about KJH as captain right from the start, figuring he only got the armband because the club was hoping it might convince him to stay a little longer, not because he necessarily showed any of the qualities of a traditional skipper. And I do find it hard to imagine that Ajax would eventually take him back after this. But then, to be a fan is to be perpetually surprised and disappointed by the venality of just about everyone involved in professional sports. Sigh.

Matt, I think we all lost in this one but I am confident the one who lost the most is KJH himself. He had made a wonderful career for himself at Ajax the last few years and I think if he had stayed he would have rooted himself as legend at the club. In five or ten years time he’ll realize nothing could ever replace that and in twenty he’ll know it was a golden opportunity he threw aside.

@J, I doubt that he’ll think about it that way. You have to reach for the top, right? Against the best. Eredivisie is not the best. Most fun to watch and follow to me, but not the best. Just a fact. Can’t blame the guy, but like Matt said it was done in an asshole fashion of sorts. Also agree that he was not going to improve with us. His motivation was not there. He’s been wanting to leave, so best to let him go.

Huge game Fri v NAC at home.

Ragnar- Harsh? Yes. Warranted? Absolutely. I like Ajax vets to come back, but this makes clear that KJH may not be sold on the Ajax legacy (PSV youth, after all). And he never won anything at Ajax. I don’t know if I want him back. Seedorf? Anytime.

chris- I don’t care if Real did pay. This is not what a captain does. This is not what a “club legend” wannabe does.

j- It frightens me how often I agree with a PSV supporter.

Maybe I will come around in time and feel good about KJH in Oranje. Maybe he will suceed at Madrid. All I am saying is that he is a punk and has walked out on what made MvB and Bergkamp great: they won in Amsterdam.

KJH will be a squad player after this yr. Just not sold on him as a legit CL/world class striker. So many things he does not do well.

    He aint no Ruud!

Matt, does it at least give you tiny bit of satisfaction that the man who lured and brought KJH to Madrid only a few days ago is now already out of a job, and KJH will arrive to a team playing for a manager that he never even signed on to work with?

Jack- Yes, it does. I am pretty messed up, huh?

Moe- Rumor is no. I have heard Djiby Fall at OB also. Perhaps we will slot Suarez into the middle and keep Rommedahl/Kennedy to play the right.

I’m still worried of the selling of huntelaar will cost us the league. I wasn’t to impressed by dario showing against volendam and i know it just his first game from injury. But i would still like to us to get another striker come January.

    Bojan krikic on loan maybe?

    I kid.

Matt, you ought to calm down your hating rhetoric a bit. Please stop cursing too! I hate it that you use the F* word on the Great Van Basten, and Bergkamp. They had nothing to do with it. Van Basten did all he could so would stay. Nowadays, all great players in the Eredivisie want to leave the league to be in the grandest clubs of Europe, b/c they believe it’s the only way they can become legends, and win trophies. Perhaps, you should blame the Dutch league, for not being at the top of European Club Football. I love Ajax! But they have not won the Champions League since 1995, and their performance ever since has been abysmal; henceforth, no one is interested in Ajax and the Eredevisie. So don’t blame Huntelaar for doing what is right for himself. Besides, business is business!
Maybe when the Eredivie is as consistently competitive in European Club Football as it used to be in the 1980s and 1990s, then none of our great players would find any incentive to leave.
Thanks to San Marco, Ajax will be in limelight again and will win many Champions League trophies in the years to come.
So Please don’t be spiteful towards Huntelaar, and his bright future, b/c after all he will always be an Oranje, our own. His success is our success, and will positively reflect on Netherlands.
I Love You Huntelaar, and God-Speed @ Madrid!!!
