Stunning

By: Matt | November 16th, 2008

Simply incredible. I know PSV has been struggling mightily, and the match was in Amsterdam, but if you were expecting this result, you are either very shrewd or insane. 4-1 Ajax. I am stunned. If you want a concise match summary, my excellent colleague can give you that here. If you want to know how stunned I am, read on.

Beginning with Suarez, I was hoping he would finally show that he is capable of being the focal point of an attack. And he certainly did today. The goals were terrific, and he was dangerous nearly every time he touched the ball. Loved it. Most people are calling him the man of the match, and it is hard to argue with his performance. But…

Who saw Eyong Enoh coming a few months ago? His transfer from Ajax Cape Town seemed almost like an afterthought. I never expected him to break into our stacked midfield, send Gabri to the bench, and dominate PSV just a few months after arriving in Holland. I have been hoping for a Davids like holding mid, and we have one in Enoh. His performance earned him a picture.

And how about the re-treads? MvB said he no longer needed Kennedy, Rommedahl and Leonardo. They respond by leading Ajax through an injury crisis to the top of the table. What do we do them now? And what will Marco be capable of when he has a squad stocked with players that he does want?

All Hail King Marco!
AZ, you are on notice.

Wish I’d seen this one–nice to hear that Suarez managed to stay on his feet! And how about j’s gracious response? Nothin’ but class.

I am hoping MvB was a good coach enough to reconsider his position with regards to Rommedahl and Kennedy. Both of which have their short comings but have shown that they are the glue that helps make this team gel. They supported Suarez perfectly.

Ajax have good problems to deal with – who to play because they are all good. Enoh has been awesome and I hope he sticks around. Van der Weil is also starting to surprise the hell out of me because I thought he would be useless in the beginning of the season.

Last but not least, Sulejmani. Impact player or what???

Brilliant, that too without most of the first team. Ajax is back to reign again!

Vermaelan is becoming outstanding defender very quietly. I think our back line is much better this yr, even without Heitingna

That’s why I say, Ajax CT can beat Ajax Amsterdam anyday, anywhere, anytime…
