Farewell AjaxUSA
By: Matt | April 15th, 2008It is a sad day in the series of tubes that makes up the Internets when the absolute pinnacle of English-language Ajax related websites calls it quits. (I am flattered if you think this is my farewell. It’s not) The editors of AjaxUSA have decided to walk away from a classy and informative venture began in 1995. You can still access the site here if you have never had the good fortune of running across it before.
I must give all the credit for the fact that I support Ajax to this site. I discovered it several years back as my interest grew in Ajax while my access to information on the club remained scarce. Everything from match reports, team player bios, Ajax history, Dutch football history, and even terrific thumbnail sketches of the many colorful Eredivisie rivalscan be found on the site. As coverage of Dutch football dwindled on larger sites (and continues to do so), I could still count on AjaxUSA to give me match reports for games I missed and other basics.
The writing talents and devotion to Ajax of those involved at AjaxUSA are/were always on display as well. A tight-knit community soon began to grow into a forum section on the Dutch site as well. While some of this will surely continue, the solid and consistent reporting of AjaxUSA will be missed. I started this blog assuming that they would provide quality match reports to Ajax fans online, and I could be the snarky little brother who offers his opinion as well as a chance for readers to air grievances and sound off. I don’t intend to change my course (this is the offside, you know), but I will have to face a tremendous void.

Seconded. I stumbled across Ajax USA about five years ago, and it’s been part of my daily internet travels ever since. The best English language site devoted to Ajax… by far. It’s good to know some of the same characters from Ajax USA will still congregate on the English boards of the Ajax Talk site, but it’s definitely the end of an era.
