Bad Time for a Break
By: Matt | September 6th, 2008After last week, I wanted nothing more than to see Ajax storm the pitch in Amsterdam and hit the reset button with 3 points. There is nothing good about this international break for Ajax. We could use one of these in a few weeks perhaps, when Sulejmani’s repaired knee acts up or Steks busts up a finger. Instead, Ajax gets to take a nice long break with memories of that abysmal second half haunting them. This might be good for a young and hungry squad, but I do not appreciate it as a fan.
> Worse still is the news that Luque’s move to Malaga is really just a loaner. Now, I know the reasonable reaction would be to hope he has a good season so that he might bring in a nice transfer fee next summer (His contract runs through 2010). But I don’t want poor Marco to have to explain one more time to this guy that he is not wanted. If he did not get the point after last year’s fight with Suarez that he is second choice (Luque was disciplined, Suarez was not), I don’t know if he will ever get it.
> Evander Sno’s red card was rescinded, so he will be available whenever we do get back to football. Kudos to the officials and their handlers for admitting they were wrong. Too bad it won’t change the result.
> Sorry about the lack of news this week. I won’t have much to say unless something big happens this week. Just go back to reading about Man City, and I’ll wake you for the match.

Any idea when Gabri is back? I’d rather see him and Aissati in the starting XI then Sno and Lindgren.

I just read it today: Gabri is out for the weekend and maybe next week’s UEFA match as well.
